"Wholesome living” is an individual experience. We each have our ideas of what that entails. In our area wholesome living is demonstrated through: the growing of one's food, processing that food, the honour system at work, stewardship for the environment, caring to know one's neighbours, getting involved in the community, attending locally created events (for example Blossom Festival, CV Bird Fest, Starbelly Jam, Yahk Summer Fest, Wine Art Bus Tour) meeting at coffee shops, jamming at a coffee house night, making your own fun activities, family and friends' gatherings, volunteering, and lots of outdoor recreation.
You will likely find the people who live here to be mostly "down to earth", compassionate, worldly, educated, positive, resourceful, creative, and independent. The character of the people who live here is a good match for the lifestyle. There are some recent articles about retiring in the Creston Valley written by the online Globe and Mail Newspaper in the Investment section Jan 12/15 and another on Feb 9/15.
