Incorporated in 1965, the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is a local government that serves an estimated population of 60,000 residents. Our region consists of 11 electoral areas (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K) and nine member municipalities: Castlegar, Creston, Kaslo, for Nakusp, Nelson, New Denver, Salmo, Silverton and Slocan. Creston and Kootenay Lake East Shore include areas: A, B, C and Town of Creston. Area A serves the communities of Boswell, Sirdar, Sanca, Wynndel, Gray Creek, Kootenay Bay, Riondel, Twin Bays, Kuskanook, Pilot Bay and Crawford Bay. Garry Jackman, Population - 2,030 (2011 stats) Area B serves the communities of Canyon, Erickson, Lister, Huscroft, Rykerts, Arrow Creek, Yahk, Goatfell, Kingsgate, Kitchener, Glenlily, Goat River Bottom and the Lower Kootenay Band. Tanya Wall, Population - 4,464 (2011 stats) Area C serves the communities of Duck Lake, Lakeview, West Creston (Flats) and South Reclamation. Larry Binks, Population - 1,372 (2011 stats) Creston - serves the neighbourhoods known as South Creston, Crawford Hill, Alice Siding (in town limits) and our new subdivisions.
