Sourcing Local

The variety and the abundance of food produced in this area is remarkable but it isn't always that easy to source. Locals rely on word-of-mouth and the help of the CV Food Action Coalition.

Homegrown

Zone 5 to 7
Within the Creston Valley and along the Eastshore of the Kootenay Lake you will find many mico-climates. It is possible to have up to three cuts of hay depending on the weather.

Wildcrafting and Hunting

Wildcrafting is a satisfying outdoor recreation activity, from mushroom hunting to Huckleberry picking. One of my favorite decadent recipes is brandied rose blossoms. Ask the locals more about sourcing wild food including hunting and fishing.
